Mission Statement

"What's great about collaborating is getting to work with wonderful people. That's what theatre is about: other people getting you to give your best, and getting everyone else's best out of them." - Jason Robert Brown

Raven Theatre at RSS aims to provide learning opportunities for students in a safe, inclusive and creative environment.  In each class, from Drama 9 up to Acting 12, students are expected to actively listen, fully participate and support each other through kindness and connectivity in order to build and maintain the ensemble.  In order to nurture the ensemble, students are encouraged to recognize the needs, strengths and challenges of others as well as identify their own, individual learning goals.  Raven Theatre believes that the exploration of character and narrative through the performing arts as well as the collaboration required to mount a theatre production, can have a profound and positive impact on the individual and the collective; these endeavors can deepen one's understanding of the human condition.

"And it's a human need to be told stories. The more we're governed by idiots and have no control over our destinies, the more we need to tell stories to each other about who we are, why we are, where we come from, and what might be possible." - Alan Rickman
